Alabaster Carving with Snake Knot in Flower Wreath - 19th. Century - Top Quality

Unknown maker and origin. Very skilled and detailed worked alabaster carving of a flower wreath with a snake knot in the centre. The snake has inlaid ruby glass beads eyes. On the backside is a thin engraving: "Hanover House". The transluscent plate has a diameter of 30 cm. The carving lays under the rim height. A glass pane fits exactly on the rim of the plate protecting the carving from dust. In a solid round mahagony frame with carved flower border. The back lid is probably a later replacement. Diameter overall 39 cm, 4,95 kg. Condition: The carving is in as new condition, no chip or damage anywhere. The item got unframed, dust got carefully removed, the glass pane is cleaned. A very beautiful carved piece in museum quality.
