Jugendstil Brieföffner signiert Pierre und Alfred Frainier, Schweiz und Morteau Frankreich

Metallguss, versilbert und grün patiniert. Medaillon mit alpinem Motiv mit drei Bergsteigern, Edelweiß (dieses auf einer Seite bestoßen), von einer Blüte mit Stängel gehalten. Perlmuttklinge. Länge 16,2 cm. Im Medaillon beidseitig signiert "FRAINIER".  Uhrengehäusemanufaktur Frainier und Sohn, Schweiz und später in Morteau in Frankreich. Spitze der Perlmuttklinge bestoßen. 

Pierre and Alfred Frainier: (Pierre 1840-1927, Alfred 1869-1937), Father and Son, were the pioneers of watchmaking in Morteau. Founders of the "Manufacture de boites et de montres" which was located on rue de la Chaussée in Morteau, they specialised their company in the manufacture of worked watch cases, medals, particularly for awards and decorations, and metal bells. In 1905, they created a school of engravers within their company.

The Frainier were originally from Porrentruy, Switzerland. Quickly, they knew how to create a style in the heart of Art Nouveau with very traditional manufacturing methods and very high quality. The Frainier were knocking on the pendulum. Their art was practiced over two generations from 1864 to 1930. The craftsmanship of the boxes by Frainier remains of an immense quality that time has not altered.
